VA, Utah Plan July Launch to Test Rural Veterans' Data Exchange

Mary Mosquera | Government Health IT | April 26, 2011

VLER is VA’s development of a single electronic system to track the medical, benefits and administrative records of service members from their induction into the military throughout their lives as veterans.

Utah is one of 11 demonstrations around the country in which VA and participating local providers share patient data through access to the nationwide health information network (NHIN), a set of standards and services. The pilot will operate out of the Grand Junction, Colo. VA Medical Center and the Moab Utah Regional Hospital.
