DeSalvo To Open Institute For e-Health Policy Capitol Hill Briefing

Staff Writer | HIMSS | March 27, 2014

The Institute for e-Health Policy will hold two briefings in the month of April.

On Thursday, April 10th, Dr. Karen DeSalvo, MD, MPH, MSc, the recently appointed National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, will participate in her first Capitol Hill briefing by providing opening remarks for a session on “The value of health data in transforming care using secure information to improve efficiency and quality.”

Big data and clinical and business intelligence offers tremendous hope for improving healthcare and the human condition, but only if public policy stays ahead of the technology.  Panelists will discuss the rapidly increasing volume of health and healthcare data, and address public policy issues relative to using that data to improve quality of care and clinical outcomes.

Special thanks to the office of Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) for help arranging this event, which will take place from 12:00-2:00 pm in room 485 of the Russell Senate Office Building.  RSVP here.
