HP Touchpad WebOS May Find Its Place in the Medical Field
HP's WebOS is creating surprising advancements in the medical field as researchers build applications suited for the recent open-source platform. Stanford University's research associate from the Radiology Department, Mr. Andrew B. Hollbrook, created an application that works on MRI scanner. It also permits radiologists and several medical workers to view MRI images through an HP TouchPad tablet.
Holbrook developed an application that allows HP TouchPad to run an MRI machine inside a scanning room and interface it with a personal computer server that is located somewhere else. The usual computers controlling MRIs are bulky and pricey since they require special adjustments to lessen metal parts that cause safety threats and react to the machine's magnetic field. Since HP Touchpad is mostly plastic made and its metal parts are removable without breaking its function, it proved especially ideal for use within the magnetized MRI room...
