New release introduces Human Geography Entity Data Module (HG EDM), expanded street address country coverage and more

Reston, VA (PRWEB) April 08, 2013

Qbase LLC, a leading provider of information technology services, business intelligence solutions, and geographic search technologies today announced a significant software upgrade to their MetaCarta Geographic Search and Referencing Platform (GSRP.)

Highlighting the new MetaCarta GSRP Software Version 4.8 is the initial release of the Human Geography Entity Data Module (HG EDM) which enriches textual information (found in reports and message traffic) to identify hidden relationships between people and geography. HG EDM enhances the MetaCarta product line with automatic geo-referencing that links people to maps, and maps to people. It provides invaluable knowledge to intelligence, national security, and commercial organizations.

MetaCarta with HG EDM allows users to:

  • Enhance the information found in textual data by introducing knowledge of tribal groups, prominent figures, and their levels of influence.
  • Expose human geographic attributes (e.g., language, ethnicity, religion, etc.) from unstructured data sources.
  • Link geographic places to tribal and family groups; understand relationships among groups.
  • Connect tribal groups and prominent people to their geographic areas of influence.
  • Identify key influencers along a specific route or area of interest.

“Understanding who influences areas of interest is critical for any data analysis, especially with intelligence activities. Being able extract that from unstructured text is even more important,” said Ken Tomaselli, Senior Vice President at Qbase. “Our Human Geography Entity Data Module (HG EDM) provides this critical capability and enables our customers to further bridge the gap between people and places.”

In addition to Human Geography support, MetaCarta version 4.8 expands its street address Geographic Data Modules (GDMs) to include China and Mexico. MetaCarta recognizes and extracts street addresses hidden in unstructured data and provides geographic coordinates for each address found. With the addition of China and Mexico, MetaCarta now understands how to recognize, extract, cleanse and geo-reference street addresses from ten countries (other countries include Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States.)

Qbase also continues to expand its market-leading knowledgebase of geographic places. MetaCarta version 4.8 now includes over 30 million place names in its Base GDM.

MetaCarta GSRP Software Version 4.8 and the Human Geography Entity Data Module are both generally available. For more information, contact your Qbase MetaCarta sales organization.
