Debut & Installation of myOSCAR PHR System

Press Release | WSJ MarketWatch | May 16, 2013

Patients of the Amari Medical Clinic and Integrated Health Centre in Surrey, BC can now have their most important and up-to-date test results, appointments, and healthcare stats integrated with their smart phone, laptop or tablet thanks to Cloud Practice Inc., a medical technology company with a mission to make the benefits of electronic records easily accessible to Canadian healthcare practitioners and patients. Cloud Practice recently installed the myOSCAR personal health record (PHR) system at the Amari Clinic, the first of several myOSCAR set ups by Cloud Practice for medical offices throughout the region.

myOSCAR is an online, healthcare management tool launched in 2007 that facilitates sharing of patient information from a physicians' electronic medical record (EMR), the OSCAR system. Just about any medical information can be shared including clinical test results, prescribed medications, and immunizations. myOSCAR also allows patients to send messages to their doctors, book appointments, and fill out forms and surveys. For physicians, medical staff, and patients myOSCAR streamlines many standard processes, saving time and money and making it easier for patients to organize and access their medical information 24/7.

"Our practice adopted myOSCAR with the goal of providing our patients a consolidated health record for easier access to all of their important medical data, and to streamline communication with our medical team," says Dr. Sachit Shah, MD, a family physician with the Amari Clinic. "We are impressed with the system so far, and anticipate it will deliver significant benefit for our practice and our patient community."

Amari Medical Clinical and Integrated Health Centre (http://www.amariclinic.ca/) serves White Rock, Langley, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and surrounding areas. Their services include internal medicine, chiropractic, medical exercise specialist, and massage therapy.

myOSCAR incorporates several safeguards just like traditional medical records to ensure privacy. It uses a multi-level security model which includes encryption of each record to protect against unauthorized access to servers or the backup medium. Patients have complete control over who has permission to view their information and the level of authorization each user has.
