CIO for the U.S. government at FOSE 2012

Steven VanRoekel is the second Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the United States, appointed by President Obama on August 5th, 2011. As the CIO for the U.S. government, Mr. VanRoekel is responsible for managing innovative initiatives and is at the center the many of government information technology (IT) reforms or initiatives now underway, e.g. Data.gov, IT Dashboard, USASpending.gov, FedRAMP, BusinessUSA, and more.

Mr. VanRoekel is helping to lead government-wide strategies to cut costs, consolidate data centers, move to the cloud, provide shared services, use mobile technology, pursue open solutions, and provide better service to our citizens and the business community. He. VanRoekel will highlight some of these initiatives and priorities, as well as his plans to maximize IT investments during his keynote presentation this week at FOSE 2012 in Washington D.C.
