Mirth Corporation to Bring the Technology Needed to Make New Orleans a Beacon Community

Mirth Corporation, a provider of commercial open source healthcare information technology, announced that the Crescent City Beacon Community (CBCC), will use its interoperability and care management solutions to connect doctors with the information they need to treat patients effectively, and to improve quality of care across the greater New Orleans area, according to a press release at marketwatch.com. The Beacon Communities are where patients can get medical care for free.

CBCC is one of 17 federally funded Beacon Communities nationwide, according to the press release. The program is funded through the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will provide $8.5 million to fund 85 centers across 15 Beacon Communities, with these grants.
