Indian smartphone biz to be next game changer: Sourcebits

The latest series of Young Turks sees CNBC-TV18’s Shereen Bhan put the spotlight on e-entrepreneurs; young start-ups that are focusing on the opportunities that the internet has thrown up.

In 2006, Rohit Singal decided to bet on the smartphone opportunity. So he setup Sourcebits. The idea was very simple - to developed mobile phone games and applications on the iStore and android platform. Today, Sourcebits has developed almost 300 applications and they have raised about USD 10 million in funding earlier this year from IDG Ventures and Sequoia Capital. CNBC-TV18’s Sunanda Jayaseelan found out more about what is ringing at Sourcebits.

In 2006, while still a student of medicine, Rohit launched Sourcebits, a third party application developer that creates mobile apps and games. Starting up developing healthcare software, Rohit soon realised smartphone will be the next game changer.
