Press Release | Qualidigm | April 4, 2013

Timothy M. Elwell Succeeds Marcia K. Petrillo as Company CEO

Rocky Hill, Conn. (PRWEB) April 04, 2013

Qualidigm, the national health care consulting company headquartered in Rocky Hill, Conn., has named Timothy M. Elwell as its new CEO following an extensive national search. Effective immediately, Elwell succeeds Marcia K. Petrillo as CEO. Petrillo, who announced her retirement last June, led the growing and award-winning organization for more than 37 years.

Elwell joins Qualidigm from Misys Open Source Solutions in White Plains, NY, a division of the global financial services and software provider Misys PLC, where as vice president he led the development of the world’s first standards-based, open-source Health Information Exchange (HIE). At Misys Open Source Solutions, Elwell operated at the forefront of the health care software industry, providing interoperability and health information exchange solutions coupled with governance and consulting services.

Previously, Elwell was the national sales director of IBM’s State and Local Global Business Consulting Division based in New York City where he oversaw national sales activities for the world’s leading provider of computer products and services. Other positions held at IBM included numerous business development and M&A positions.

“As I relinquish my responsibilities at Qualidigm and enter a new chapter, I hand over the reins to the capable hands of Tim, a forward-thinking business leader who I am confident will make a meaningful impact on the organization and the Health Care Industry at large,” said Petrillo. “I am very proud that Qualidigm has become a trusted convener of diverse stakeholders working collaboratively on behalf of quality, safe health care for all and cost-effectiveness. I look forward to the certain and significant successes of the company under Tim’s leadership,” added Petrillo.

As Qualidigm’s newly-appointed chief executive officer, Elwell is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the company while spearheading the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies to secure the organization’s sustainability and business development potential. He will also ensure the ongoing fulfillment of the company’s mission to advance the quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of health care.

“On behalf of Qualidigm’s Board of Directors, we are confident that Tim is a consummate strategic thinker who has the leadership skills, entrepreneurial spirit and customer service dedication our diverse stakeholders require to lead the company successfully through the nation’s changing health care landscape,” said Kathy Mon, chair of Qualidigm’s Board of Directors.

“The U.S. healthcare industry is experiencing unprecedented change. Core to successful change will be trusted, neutral and unbiased organizations that can reach across disparate healthcare communities to lead business and clinical transformation, based on best practices. Qualidigm has developed incredible intellectual property assets and consulting practices over the last 37 years through its quality improvement efforts, and is well positioned to lead in global healthcare transformation. I am honored to be a part of the strong legacy left by Marcia,” said Elwell.

Elwell currently serves as Commissioner for the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology and on the Board of Stewards for Open Health Tools (OHT), a multi-stakeholder group of open-source advocates. He has received numerous executive business and sales awards and is also a recognized author and presenter on innovation at leading industry events.

Elwell earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Siena College, Loudonville, New York; and a Master of Business Administration Degree from The City University of New York, NYC. Elwell expects to complete his Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, IN in 2014. He is married to Joy Elwell, DNP, who runs an independent nurse practitioner practice. The Elwells have three children.
