Merlin International Awarded National Data Center Program Storage Infrastructure Implementation for Storage Solutions

Press Release | Merlin International | January 4, 2012

Merlin International (www.merlin-intl.com), a leading IT solutions provider to the U.S. federal government, today announced it has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) for the National Data Center Program (NDCP).

The proposed NDCP storage and back-up solution will simplify management, reduce costs, improve reliability, provide consistency of data storage equipment to simplify support and maintenance, and improve operational efficiencies. In short, the VA will be able to do more with fewer support staff and less storage – which means less cost, while ensuring the integrity of Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) data through robust virtualization, replication and backup capabilities.

The Merlin Team, comprised of Merlin International, Inc., NetApp, Inc., CommVault, and Quantum Corporation, have developed a storage solution that will assist the VA in achieving their goal of consolidating the (VISTA) footprint  in Regions 2 and 3 into data centers hosted by DISA . This is a significant step in support of VA’s commitment to a joint, integrated electronic health record system with the Defense Department known as the iEHR.

“This contract award is another testament to Merlin’s successful partnerships with the VA and our strategic OEM partners. We are looking forward to continuing to provide our present and future VA clients with the products, services and support critical to their success,” said John Trauth, president of Merlin.
