Headline Sponsors Harris Healthcare To Show How To Achieve Better Outcomes Through Value-Based Healthcare

Press Release | Harris Healthcare | September 18, 2012

Headline sponsors Harris Healthcare, will highlight the critical role of technology in providing value-based healthcare at this year's Healthcare Efficiency Through Technology EXPO at Olympia, London. Wayne Parslow, VP EMEA Harris Healthcare will discuss how value-based healthcare, which is centred around delivering better outcomes by utilising the same or less resource, can only be achieved by discovering better models of care and using the right technology to support it.

Harris, is a global healthcare provider who was recently awarded with the contract to make two of the world's largest healthcare systems - the Veterans Association and the Department of Defence in the US interoperable. Harris also provides John Hopkins, the highest ranking hospital in the US, with solutions for all of its medical imaging requirements. Closer to home, amongst other projects, Harris has successfully deployed clinical portals across four boards in Scotland.

Wayne's presentation 'Unlocking the Power of Information as an Asset in the Delivery of Care' will focus on how current technology impedes value-based healthcare, the importance of open source and open standards platforms for driving technology enabled care as well as the key IM&T approaches and solutions that can impact the quality and cost of care.

The session, which will be held in the main conference from 9:50-10:15am on 9th October 2012, following the main keynote session by Dr Mahmood Adil, National QIPP Advisor - clinical & finance engagement & visiting professor of value based healthcare.

Wayne Parslow said: "Using the correct tools the NHS has a unique opportunity to unlock data so that it becomes a critical asset to bring clinicians, managers and directors together to achieve value-based healthcare.

"Harris Healthcare is focused on enabling NHS organisations across the health economy to deliver better quality outcomes utilising the same or less resource, and we have numerous reference sites to demonstrate this. As headline sponsors of HETT EXPO, this is proof of our commitment to help healthcare professionals understand the importance of technology and the benefits it can bring throughout the entire patient journey to provide better outcomes at a reduced cost."

Harris is a £3.8 billion international communications and information technology company, which acquired Carefx last year. It provides a powerful combination of solutions to deliver real-time patient centric information with an unparalleled ability to deliver with no data lock and no supplier lock, offering organisations real value and choice.

In addition to the presentation on value-based healthcare, Harris will be running a series of free one-to-one clinics throughout the day open to all attendees. These include:

  • ROI and business case clinic - how to quantify potential savings - in terms of cash releasing and efficiency savings across the health economy
