Press Release | DSS, Inc., Drummond Group | June 13, 2011

DSS, Inc., a leading provider of software development, integration, project management, implementation and support of VistA, today announced its customizable vxVistA solution has achieved American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) certification through Drummond Group, Inc. (DGI), as a complete inpatient electronic health record (EHR).

Hospitals using vxVistA will now qualify for Meaningful Use, as is outlined by ARRA standards, and be able to collect related short-term incentives. Furthermore, as a customizable EHR system, vxVistA allows for flexibility in growth and enhancements, providing hospitals with long-term benefits as well.

vxVistA is the core of an integrated product suite that includes specialized modules for behavioral health, dental, chemotherapy management and clinical decision support among others.

“We are proud to carry DGI’s ARRA MU certification seal,” said Mark Byers, president of DSS. “It is important to DSS that our customers have an inpatient EHR option that not only qualifies for Medicare and Medicaid incentives, but also offers a comprehensive, customized solution for tackling interoperability challenges, optimizing workflow efficiencies, and enhancing patient safety for many years to come.”

vxVistA was tested under the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program. The testing process was based on a number of criteria outlined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, including integrated EHR functionality, interoperability and security.

For providers to achieve Meaningful Use, certified systems must be used in such a way that qualifies for reimbursement. This includes successful implementation and integration of the software, which is part of DSS’ services package along with deployment and ongoing maintenance.
