Open Geospatial Consortium Health Domain Working Group Meeting

Event Details
Type:
Seminar/Webinar
Date:
June 10, 2014 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm

The next meeting of the Open Geospatial Consortium Health Domain Working Group is June 10, 2014, and is open to OGC members and non-members.  Anyone interested in interested in advancing open geospatial standards for health, should consider joining the discussion and list-serve.  Details are available here

The OGC Health Domain Working Group (Health DWG) has identified a range of health application areas and interoperability needs, as outlined in it’s Charter. The OGC Health DWG members are now working to advance engineering documents, facilitate interfacing with HL7, and foster interoperability projects and implementations that suit eHealth needs, among others.

The Health DWG welcomes input from the wider health community on common and discreet geospatial interoperability needs, including with respect to expanding eHealth and EHR capabilities.  We are currently working to determine whether any VistA implementers already have an interest in mapping / geospatial applications, to also welcome discussion on emerging areas / common needs, and to inform Interoperability projects that use VistA and OGC interoperable encodings and standard interfaces for geospatial data integration, visualization, etc.  From there, we can determine best practices (success examples) and identify gaps for projects (sponsored through OGC interoperability program or outside of it).

The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) is a non-profit, international, voluntary consensus standards organization that is leading the development of standards for geospatial and location based services. Through our member-driven consensus programs, OGC works with government, private industry, and academia to create open and extensible software application programming interfaces for geographic information systems (GIS) and other mainstream technologies. Adopted specifications are available for the public's use at no cost.
