epSOS Project

epSOS [European Patients Smart Open Services] is the main European eHealth interoperability project co-funded by the European Commission and the partners. It focuses on improving medical treatment of citizens while abroad by providing health professionals with the necessary patient data.  The members of the epSOS project, cofunded by the European Commission, have invested thousands of hours of hard work as well as enthusiasm into the development of feasible cross-border eHealth services, addressing technical, semantic and legal interoperability challenges. This has culminated in the large scale pilot test of the system going operational in April 2012.
