Internationalization and Localization of Open Source Clinical Research Tools
Clinovo, the company that created ClinCapture, an open-source Electronic Data Capture (EDC) platform for clients in the pharma and life sciences space, recently localized ClinCapture to Russian for Synergy Research Group (SRG). SRG, the fastest growing Clinical Research Organization (CRO) in Russia and Eastern Europe, is the latest company to join Clinovo's CRO partners group. I thought I would share some of Clinovo's best practices for language localization.

The Argonaut Project Charter

European Commission to Update its Open Source Policy
The European Commission wants to make it easier for its software developers to submit patches and add new functionalities to open source projects. Contributing to open source communities will be made central to the EC’s new open source policy, expects Pierre Damas, Head of Sector at the Directorate General for IT (DIGIT). “We use a lot of open source components that we adapt and integrate, and it is time that we contribute back.”

Two Independent Sources of Medical and Mental Health Research Shut Down in Canada
The Canadian Women’s Health Network (CWHN), for two decades a major source of critical, independent research and information on women’s health and mental health, has had to stop all its activities and close its doors indefinitely after the Canadian government took away its funding...The announcement came only weeks after the independent Canadian open-access journal Open Medicine also was forced to shut down. Both blamed declining support for scientific research that does not serve corporate interests.
