The Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA) is the central governing body of an open source community designed to unleash innovation in electronic health record software. Initiated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and seeded with VA’s VistA electronic health record (EHR) system, OSEHRA welcomes participation from everyone – in government, industry, and academia – who have an interest in advancing EHR technology and its impact on health care.

The OSEHRA web site provides important communication, organizational, and administrative functions that enable community members to share information and software and to collaborate on the design and development of next generation EHR systems, i.e. VistA.
