CDC Unable To Conduct Lab, Detection Work On Salmonella Outbreak

For all those Americans crossing fingers that no communicable disease, influenza or foodborne illness outbreaks would happen during the government shutdown, exactly that has occurred.

Salmonella is spreading across 18 states, in fact, sickening 278 people along its way — and, perhaps worse, although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reinstated some 30 workers to focus on the episode the CDC has apparently not yet issued a recall of the Foster Farms chicken.

And according to a Politico report, both the seven strains of Salmonella and 76 people hospitalized because of the outbreak are atypically high numbers.
