Provincial Approval Gives Glimpse of Chinese Health IT
It’s natural to concentrate on the fine details of the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs when considering core functions for current and future EHR systems. But it’s also constructive to look beyond U.S. borders for possible guidance on governmental involvement in healthcare matters.
According to a release published July 5 by China Information Technology (CNIT), a firm specializing in information and display technologies, China’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance jointly called for the reform of the country’s healthcare systems in 2010. The plan includes the update of information systems at more than 8,000 county-level hospitals across China. CNIT said that, in order to participate in the update, prospective vendors have to go through a project bidding and approval process.
