Tiag Awarded VA Contract to Build an Open Source EHR Custodial Agent for the Department of Veterans Affairs

The Informatics Applications Group, Inc. (tiag), an innovative technology services provider, today announced that it has won the contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to design and launch the Custodial Agent (CA) that will serve as the central governing body in VA’s implementation of an open source community based on its VistA electronic health record (EHR).

tiag is pleased to have been selected to support this important and groundbreaking program as VA leads the way in fostering innovation in electronic health record software.  tiag’s leading expertise in delivering high value enterprise initiatives in military healthcare information technology and its assembled consortium of subject matter expert organizations, bring a full complement of proficiency to the Custodial Agent.

Bringing extensive executive leadership and program outreach to the initiative, Seong K. Mun, PhD of Virginia Tech will serve as the acting Senior Program Coordinator of the CA. Kitware and The Washington University, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology will provide their world class open source software management expertise to provide technical support for standing up and supporting the CA’s operations and infrastructure.  KRM Associates, Inc. brings extensive experience working with VistA and MUMPS-based open source EHR in the public sector.  To assist with active community enablement, the CA will utilize state-of-the-art social networking tools as developed by The Clymer Group, a leading DC-based public-private partnership consulting service company.

tiag expects the Custodial Agent to launch in August and to commence full operation in the Fall.  To participate and/or to monitor progress, the collaborative site of the CA will go live, today, at www.osehrca.org.
