The recent 2014 OSEHRA Open Source Summit: Global Collaboration in Healthcare IT, held September 3-5 in Bethesda, MD, was a huge success and clearly marks a watershed moment for open source health information technology (HIT), as well as a transformation in the way that US government agencies procure technology. OSEHRA 2016: Former VA CIO Roger Baker Joins Board of Open Source Organization

The Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA) announced today that Roger Baker, former Assistant Secretary and Chief Information Officer at the U.S. Department of Veterans of Affairs...joined the OSEHRA Board of Directors. Baker, a visionary in the health IT community and long-time supporter of OSEHRA, will begin his three-year term in October. Baker was elected to the Government Directorship on the Board of Directors by the OSEHRA Community.  “It is an honor to serve in this capacity,” said Baker. “I am excited to join such a forward-thinking organization where I will continue to dedicate my efforts to the promotion and widespread adoption of open source.”

OSEHRA 2019 Summit in Washington to Examine Next Steps for Open Health

The Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA) will be holding its 8th Annual Open Source Summit at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. The theme of this year's two-day Summit is "Open SaaS - Open Source in the Cloud," this year's two-day Summit will showcase leading-edge, open source initiatives and highlight the increasing level of public-private partnership in major programs and agencies. Open source software has become key to both implementation and interoperability as more and more programs opt for cloud-based solutions and software-as-a-service delivery models. This Summit will address ways to optimize open source utilization and community involvement in this new playing field.

OSEHRA is on the Move. As we clear the hurdles of establishing Governance structure, clarifying Vision, implementing work Processes, and employing our IT Infrastructure and Development Tools, we simultaneously are preparing ourselves for the long run with the Open Source community. April 2012 was a busy month. We began the month by convening our first meeting of the OSEHRA Board of Directors; General (Retired) James Peake, Mr. Michael O’Neill and Dr. John Halamka. This inaugural Board meeting marks our official emergence as an independent organization with its own governing board. We will publish the meeting minutes on our web-site.

Faced with productivity and patient safety issues in its initial pilot site, further rollouts of the EHRM have been paused by VA Secretary Denis McDonough.
