Handover System Wins NHS Hack Day

The NHS Hack Day 2012 was won by a group of clinicians and developers who produced an electronic patient task-list for doctors in just 24 hours. The weekend event in central London brought together doctors, healthcare leaders and software developers with the aim of creating solutions to problems experienced on a daily basis in the NHS.

Supported by the likes of Sir Muir Gray, the chief knowledge officer of the NHS, and Professor Sir Liam Donaldson, the former chief medical officer for England, the event attracted more than 120 attendees. Individuals grouped together to produce a variety of projects, after which 14 submissions were made to a judging panel that included Sir Liam, Dr Clare Gerada, chair of the Royal College of GPs, and Dr Ben Goldacre, author of the ‘Bad Science’ column...
