RTX Joins Continua Health Alliance To Boost Healthcare Communications

Press Release | RTX, Continua Health Alliance | November 8, 2012

RTX, a leading provider of wireless communications solutions, today announces that it has become a member of the Continua Health Alliance, a global consortium establishing an ecosystem of interoperable personal connected health systems.

Continua Health Alliance is working to facilitate more effective health management and better outcomes by enabling plug-and-play connectivity of personal health devices and services, as well as secure sharing of personal health data. Continua is a pioneer in establishing standards-based guidelines and security for connected health technologies such as smart phones, gateways and remote monitoring devices through its Guidelines releases.

Jens Christian Lindof, Vice President, RTX, commented, “The cost of patient care can be substantially reduced by making medical device communication more widely available both within and outside a hospital setting. RTX is one of very few companies to have developed embedded connectivity solutions for deployment world-wide. By participating in the Continua Health Alliance we expect to make RTX’s technology platform more widely available.”

Chuck Parker, Executive Director, Continua Health Alliance commented “We are very pleased to welcome RTX to our growing roster of member companies. With its wireless expertise, RTX is adding an important dimension to our work in advancing information-driven health self-management and facilitating the incorporation of health into the daily lives of consumers.”

In summer 2012, the Danish Government in conjunction with the Continua Health Alliance launched a new national healthcare program to make it easier for patients and healthcare providers to make better use of real-time information, data and communications networks.

Claus F. Nielsen, Vice Chair Continua Health Alliance Europe and International Manager Delta said, “Denmark, where RTX is headquartered, is one of the first countries in the world to name the Continua Health Alliance as a partner. We feel RTX can support this aim because it has a known track record in designing and manufacturing highly advanced wireless products in volume both for healthcare and consumer markets.”

RTX will be demonstrating its expertise in the development of low-power wireless communications systems for healthcare and other consumer applications at the Electronica Expo for electronic components, systems and applications, taking place in Munich, between 13–16 November 2012. Interested parties can meet senior RTX executives on the stand of Codico, an RTX distribution partner: stand A5.506, which is located in Hall A5.
