North Carolina's Central Regional Hospital Joins OSEHRA

Press Release | OSEHRA | April 26, 2019

OSEHRA is pleased to welcome our newest Organizational Member, Central Regional Hospital (CRH). One of three State psychiatric hospitals in North Carolina, CRH is operated by the Division of State-Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF) within the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

CRH is a teaching hospital that serves as a residency training site for both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. They provide medical and psychiatric care to children in all 100 counties of North Carolina and serve adolescents, adults, and the elderly in the central region of the state.

Central Regional Hospital - North Carolina - The 398-bed hospital self-implemented VistA for less than $1 million

Many of those within our community may already be familiar with CRH and their contributions to VistA and open source through Dr. Matthew King, Chief Medical Information Officer. In 2013, CRH self-implemented VistA and within three years was able to achieve HIMSS Analytics Stage 6 for EMR Adoption. They have been frequent attendees of VistA meetings and have always been eager to share their knowledge about VistA with other community members.

OSEHRA recently had the pleasure of visiting Dr. King and CRH alongside several Korean visitors from Pusan National University Hospital (PNUH). CRH showed visitors how they have customized VistA for use in a Mental Health Hospital setting and discussed their day-to-day challenges and successes.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. King and the Central Regional Hospital Team!
