Global Award Recognizes iBlueButton for Making Health Records Available via Mobile Device

San Diego, CA, September 9, 2013 - Humetrix, a provider of consumer-centric mobile healthcare applications and the developer of the award-winning iBlueButton app, today announced iBlueButton has been named "Best Overall Consumer App" in the 2013 Mobile Merit Awards.

The Mobile Merit Awards recognize companies, individuals and technologies that have shaped the way in which the world communicates today. Judging criteria includes industry impact, innovation, technologies, social importance, implementation and overall success factor. The Mobile Merit Awards were founded by a seasoned team of mobile industry veterans, consisting of journalists, bloggers and corporate CEOs.

iBlueButton is an industry response to the federal Blue Button initiative to make electronic medical records available to everyone by leveraging mobile technology to improve patient-provider exchange of information and quality of care. Today more than 100 million Americans can download their Blue Button records. The iBlueButton apps let consumer download their Blue Button health records from Medicare, the VA, insurance plans and other patient portals, directly to their smartphone or tablet. They can also share them with their doctor via a voluntary "push" of those records directly from their mobile device to their doctor’s iPad.

"We’re honored that the Mobile Merit Awards’ distinguished panel of judges recognized iBlueButton as the best overall consumer app," said Dr. Bettina Experton, Humetrix’s CEO. "With so much focus in recent years on electronic health records and healthcare IT systems, we are pleased to be recognized for our efforts to give every patient the opportunity to bring their own mobile healthcare IT system to each healthcare provider interaction."
