DSS Inc Introduces Secure Direct Messaging to Improve Care Delivery for Hospitals and Health Systems

Press Release | Document Storage Systems, Inc. (DSS) | July 16, 2016

Direct Messaging platform supports health information exchange, reduces administrative overhead and enhances patient engagement efforts

Juno Beach, FL – July 12, 2016 – Document Storage Systems, Inc. (DSS), a leading provider of health information technology (HIT) solutions for federal, private and public healthcare organizations, today announced the availability of a Direct Messaging system that allows payers, providers and health systems to securely share information, replacing time consuming manual processes, reducing overhead costs and enhancing patient engagement. These new capabilities are integrated with DSS’ EHR system, vxVistA, through the Access My Records (AMR) Portal Suite and will expand the company’s best-of-breed portfolio to enable information exchange in a verified environment with unlimited points of connection.

Current manual methods of health information exchange, including print, phone, fax, mail and point-to-point interface, create inefficiencies for hospitals and health systems, in addition to being expensive and error-prone. By joining a health information service provider (HISP), credentialed providers can access DSS’ Direct Protocol platform through their EHR to enable simple, secure, scalable standards for sending authenticated, encrypted health information directly to trusted recipients. The system also encourages patient engagement, granting patients access to information regarding their health through the AMR Patient Portal.

“As healthcare organizations continue to pursue cost containment initiatives, the Direct Messaging platform not only streamlines workflows, reducing cost and alleviating waste and error, but also enhances relationships, both provider-to-provider and provider-to-patient,” said Leonard Tambasco, president at Access My Records, a DSS, Inc. company. “Providers can reap the benefits of a more financially efficient, timely means of information exchange, and patients can have peace of mind knowing that their confidential health information is being handled securely and only by credentialed members of their care team.”

The AMR Portal Suite equips the provider with a single log-in portal, complete with a dashboard that allows a simple email exchange similar to a personal email service. DSS will be providing full service HISP functionality through an agreement with a Direct Trust accredited HISP provider.
