Dr. Ken Kizer On Consumers And Health IT

Press Release | eHealth Initiative | April 20, 2013

In this audio report we spoke with Ken Kizer, MD, Director of the Institute for Population Health Improvement, UC Davis Health System, and of California Health eQuality, the state’s partner for health information exchange development. Dr. Kizer highlights his presentation on health IT and consumers, the topic of his recent presentation at a meeting of the Southern California HIMSS chapter.

Dr. Kizer points out that HIE is to the community what EHRs are to providers and hospitals – it helps to make possible predictable and consistent connections.  He also describes the five “C’s” of consumerism, which when implemented can help assure that health IT is a “winner” and drives behavioral change.
