Community Invited to Nominate Best Open Source Project Created in 2013

BURLINGTON, Mass., Dec. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Black Duck Software, the leading global provider of strategy, products and services for automating the management, governance and secure use of open source software, today announced the addition of a Community Choice award to its open source new project recognition program, the Open Source Rookies of the Year.

This first-time award will highlight an open source project started in 2013 that developers are most excited about. Community members can vote for their favorite new open source project by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/rookies-vote and entering the project's name and website (project site or Ohloh project page). Voting will close January 2, 2014 at 8 p.m. ET. The winning project will be announced in January 2014.

Black Duck's Open Source Rookies of the Year program, an annual program entering its sixth year, recognizes the best new projects in open source. Thousands of new open source projects are evaluated based on data gathered from Ohloh.net and the Black Duck KnowledgeBase. Variables evaluated include project size and activity, pace of commits, and team attributes. Former Open Source Rookies winners include notable projects OpenStack, Twitter Bootstrap, Ansible and Salt Stack.
